Next week the HBP Ethics Support team will be at the annual HBP Open Day (Monday, 3 February) and HBP Summit (Tuesday to Thursday, 4-6 February) which this time will take place in Athens (Greece).

Join
us for the HBP Open Day 2020

Everyone is warmly invited to join the HBP Open Day on Monday, 3rd
February at Megaron International Conference Centre in Athens. The Open Day
provides a great opportunity to learn about the latest HBP research, talk to
HBP members and listen to interesting talks and discussions. Registration is
free but mandatory and you can register for the Open Day here.

The Agenda
for the Open Day 2020 includes a keynote on computation in the brain and a
number of exciting panel discussions on brain initiatives around the world,
research and data infrastructures, and Big Data and Computational Neuroscience.

At the Science Agora, you can learn about HBP research in neuroscience, robotics and computing, explore new brain research infrastructure EBRAINS and discover opportunities to collaborate and engage with HBP Education and training activities. Work of our Ethics Support team will be part of the Booth 8: Social, Ethical and Reflective. Here Ethics and Society Subproject will present its research on and practice of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and dual use which includes foresight, neuroethics and philosophy, engagement, and ethics support. We will share this booth with Diversity and Gender Equality task which focus on equal opportunities for all in the HBP.

You can learn more about the Open Day 2020 in this video and press release. Our blog post on the previous 2018 HBP Open Day and Summit in Maastricht (Netherlands) can give some idea what to expect. We look forward to meeting you at the Open Day 2020! Please do not hesitate to come and discuss with us any questions you might have about ethics support in the HBP.

Ethics
Support @ HBP Summit 2020

The Open Day will be followed by the three-day long annual HBP Summit
of the HBP consortium which brings together around 500 researchers from 132
universities, hospitals and research centres. These three days will be full
with exciting talks, meetings and sessions about HBP research and infrastructure.
Ethics Support team members will take part in many of these activities. In
particular, we would like to highlight two parallel sessions on Wednesday, 5 February, which are open
to all Summit participants:

  • Parallel
session 1 (9:00-9:40) Responsible Research and Innovation in the HBP and Data
    Protection
which will focus on future RRI, ethics and data protection
    activities in the HBP
  • Parallel
session 5 (14:40-15:20) Responsible Dual Use of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology

which is organised by the HBP Dual Use Working Group to discuss past and future
    dual
    use
    work in the HBP
